New Outlandish Anticipation post!
“Hail Mary, Coach Wesson! Throw a Hail Mary!” was the cry of one of the fans in the stands at my husband’s football games. He coached for over thirty years and I heard a lot of things yelled at him from the stands, but the memory of that phrase lingers for a couple of reasons. First, the lady that yelled it at every game was a great character and it was always yelled with such fervor and good intent. The second reason was my husband’s reaction to her yelling at him to throw a “Hail Mary”. He would just smile and shake his head, No.

I work for Boston College which has a long history with the “Hail Mary” (of various ilks). I have no doubt that this episode was so called for many reasons. And all of them will be gut-wrenching. “What that means to both of them brings tears to my eyes even as I type.” Everything that came after this sentence I read through my own tears.
Oh your college’s Hail Mary is infamous
!
Tears in my eyes – again. I hope all of your quoted lines are uttered on July 9 in the finale. xxoo
I learned something today! You don’t necessarily see comments posted on Facebook when your blog is posted by others. So, I know my heart will break to see the final 2 episodes of season 2. I tear up just reading Diana’s words. Thank you for your blog. I take your words as a pep talk like your husband might make to his team before the big game. We will get through this! Thanks to Starz for seasons 3 and 4! Let’s hope they can keep the excellent cast and crew!
Ditto to Frasher Pergande!
I was an emotional mess after watching Episode 1 this season. Claire’s pain was so acute that I actually felt it myself. Within a couple of weeks, we will truly experience how and why her pain was so devastating. Am I ready for this? No, I’m not. I’m actually kind of fearful. It will be beautifully done, I know, but heartbreakingly so.
Thanks, Beth, for your words. I love the personal stories of your family/life and your amazing ability to liken them to our dear Outlander family. And as another poster said, it is nice to have you here for us and with us on this journey!
Already sad!! My husband is a football coach as well. He definitely appreciates the Hail Mary over some of the other things from his wife.. I mean ‘the stands!”
I really want to hear him tell her that be has the easy part, and I want to see the markings on their hands. Those are my only “requirements” lol. This episode will be heartbreaking no matter what they put in/leave out…and nobody is prepared lol.
I couldn’t agree more. I will have tissue ready, hot chocalate, because as much as I like whiskey, I want to be coherent for every agonizing lovely moment. I know that we have more episodes to look forward to…and I can’t wait…even knowing that I have to. It’s especially comforting to know that the books are always there when Droughtlander becomes too much to bear.
Thanks Beth for all your wonderful insight and point-of-view!
Beth Wesson, where are ye? Missing your updates!
On vacay!
Hope you’re having fun!! Just know we miss you 🙂
